A Collection Of Thought

I have come to understand that critiquing a fashion collection is hard work although at first glance it had seem not. It is hard work because first one must familiarize himself or herself to the technical aspect of design and second one must not get carried away with the beauty of a collection's parts. Because in a way, in my opinion at least, critiquing a fashion collection is like deciphering the designer's artistic vision for that given season. Likewise while we learn to criticize the collections of others, we at the same time learn how to incorporate and communicate our ideas, stories, and concepts in our future collection. Therefore, runway shows are not just designer clothing on models walking up and down a platform. It is an orchestrated and detailed event. It amazes me on how even such small details of lines and the order the clothing's are presented can effect the harmony of a collection. Learning this makes me want to be more meticulous in everything i do.
